Protest group Anonymous said in a submission on the government's proposed
internet filter that it will launch more cyber attacks in protest over the
government's plans to introduce mandatory filtering to censor internet content.

The submission is one of 174 received by the government on how to improve
transparency in relation to the filtering policy, which Senator Conroy said is
to be used to feed into its legislative framework.

Last month, hackers associated with Anonymous brought down various government
websites, including Senator Conroy's departmental website, prompting an
investigation by the Department of Defence.

The attacks came five months after the group took down Prime Minister Kevin
Rudd's website over the filtering policy and posted a link to what was purported
to be a list of banned websites.
