A shipment of Samsung’s Wave smartphones has apparently shipped with malware
stored on the handset’s microSD card.
Several security firms have warned that a file on the S8500’s 1GB microSD
card is in fact a Trojan. Samsung has reportedly confirmed that a small number
of the handsets destined for the German market, received the malware microSD
cards but that the problem had now been rectified.
When the handset is synced to a computer that has autorun enabled the malware
will then download the software to the PC. There it acts as a standard Trojan.
